President's Message
Hi everyone, it's Tommy, your 2025/2026 BITSoc President!
It’s been an exciting start to the year, and while things may have seemed quiet in September, there’s been a ton happening behind the scenes. From leading major initiatives like Talk With Tommy to creating BITSoc’s first-ever multi-year strategic growth plan, our team has been hard at work building a stronger, more connected, and forward-thinking society for all FBIT students.
This year, we’ve also introduced a new Sub-Team Structure, making it easier for passionate students to get involved, take on leadership opportunities, and represent Ontario Tech at new levels — including through JDCC OTU & ACE OTU, our first-ever business competition teams! — Don't worry, IT students, you are eligible to join the teams + we've got something coming for you real soon! We’ve already seen incredible engagement through BITWeek, and it’s been amazing to watch our general membership reach record-breaking numbers.
As we move into October, get ready for even more — from flagship networking events and faculty collaborations, to major competitions, panels, and socials.
And of course — don’t miss the JDCC Kickoff Event happening tonight at 5 PM in SHA 131! Come by, grab a slice of pizza, and learn how you can be part of something historic.
Here’s to an incredible year ahead for BITSoc and FBIT! — Tommy D. Michailidis President, BITSoc 2025/2026

Sub-Association Spotlight
Each month, we will shine a light on one of our 9+ BITSoc sub-associations and teams — celebrating their contributions, events, and impact within the FBIT community.
|
|
NETSOC's Entry-Style CTF
As part of this year’s BITWeek programming, BITSoc is proud to highlight NETSOC (Networking and IT Security Student Association) for hosting one of the most dynamic and technically engaging events of the week — their Fall 2025 Entry-Style Capture the Flag (CTF).
With an impressive turnout, this year’s CTF challenged participants to put their cybersecurity and networking skills to the test through a wide range of real-world-inspired scenarios.
Events like these exemplify what BITSoc’s sub-associations do best: bringing FBIT students together to learn, compete, and connect.
Congratulations to the NETSOC team on a successful event — and to all first-year students who joined in, welcome to the community!
